ELF Mineral Infused Mascara

My Score: [rating=4]

Pros:

  • Cheap! ($3)
  • Completely clump-less
  • Easy to layer
  • Volumizes
  • Lengthens
  • Curls

Cons:

  • Difficult to remove

Full Review: I was skeptical considering ELF has been a hit or miss for me in the past. However, I was tired of spending so much money on high-end Tarte mascara that I considered average quality. I even considered investing in Dior’s Diorshow Black Out mascara, but I couldn’t bring myself to do it despite hearing so much about how Dior makes the best mascara. I’m usually all about quality versus quantity, but I decided to give this a try as my daily mascara anyway.

What a surprise! ELF Mineral Infused Mascara is the only mascara I have ever used that has actually curled my long lashes and held. I don’t even have to use a curler! Totally shocked. I was even more skeptical after I saw how wet the formula was. I use mascara for volume, since my lashes are already long enough to scrape the lens on my sunglasses (very annoying). Dry formulas tend to work best with my lashes. I applied generously and after two coats of 100% smooth, un-clumpy layers my lashes looked absolutely perfect.

The only con is its difficulty to remove. I have a good cleanser, but not even three washes will remove all of this mascara from my eyes. I may have to finally invest in a remover, if the old olive oil trick doesn’t work.

DIY tip: Olive oil on a cotton ball makes a great eye makeup remover, and will remove most makeup!

I have always had a hard time finding the right mascara, but my hardest part right now is finding the right eye liner that will not run before my day is over. Any suggestions on that?

I currently use Revlon ColorStay Eyeliner, which stays put all day, but I only use it on my top lid so I’m not sure if it runs. I rarely use liner for the bottom of my eyes, so I wish I could give a personal recommendation! HOWEVER, I am aware of some that have a good rep:

      1. K Palette 1-Day Tattoo is a Japanese brand you can find on Amazon that gets tons of good reviews from gurus on Youtube, but I haven’t tried it myself. Don’t freak out about the name, it’s just meant to mean it won’t budge until you wash it off!

      2. ULTA brand eyeliner is the one liner I remember using on my waterline area, and it never smudged or ran. I highly recommend. I only stopped using it because I started purchasing only non-animal testing brands.

      3. Both Bobbi Brown Gel Eyeliner and MAC Fluidline set once dry and don’t budge, but these are definitely a splurge. I see these two talked about a lot, but they will create a crisp line. If you’re looking for something smokier, I suggest the ULTA.

      Hope this helped!

Huge difference! I’m definitely going to try it out.
