I was lucky enough to visit Florida this holiday season to be with my family. While the state may not agree with me on many levels, it brought me back to feeling like a child again. My parents live on an acre of land, and while their house isn’t enormous their backyard certainly is. Hummingbirds, robins, bumblebees, and deer are all a common daily sights. In other words, it’s definitely not LA!
Something my mother and I used to do when I was a kid was make peanut butter bird feeders. While we had a proper bird feeder in the backyard, my cousin (proudly finishing Kindergarten this year) wanted to make peanut butter bird feeders and hang them around the small tree in the back. So my mother and I made a few with her.
It’s quite simple to make these! Take a pinecone and tie a string to one end. Lather the pinecone in peanut butter, then dip it into a bucket full of birdseed. Find a suitable branch and hang it up for a treat that will definitely be bringing in the birds. (And if you live in wooded areas, probably a few others guests as well…)
I’m back in my second home here in LA, meaning posts will be more regular again and I’ll be able to show some of the work I’ve been doing around the apartment as well. I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday and new year!
