I’m addicted to International Delight’s Cinnabon coffee creamer. I don’t even miss Starbucks.
I decided on Friday to start cutting out some caffeine again after getting the jitters, so I’m back on decaf. My body just can’t handle much caffeine. My love affair with coffee is killing me.
Independence Day was wonderful! I hope everyone else in the US enjoyed. We had a great show not far away that I was able to enjoy from my balcony.
Walgreens was having some big sales this week. In addition to a large box of Milkbones for $2 (lucky pups!) I saw the Yes to Carrots tinted balms were only about $1 each down from almost $6. There were only about five left, so I grabbed what looked to be an orange color. It’s actually a perfect neutral, so I scored big time!
Essie wasn’t on sale, but I saw this muted lilac color (Master Plan) and couldn’t pass it up. I’m such a sucker. It didn’t help that I’ve been growing tired of the colors in my collection.
Finally went to a matinee showing of Brave. Loved it! I’m a huge Pixar fan.
Inspired by the polish, I created an iPhone wallpaper and put it up as a freebie. Download it out here! I hope to be adding more freebies as the weeks go by, as a thank you for everyone who reads the blog. You’re amazing!

I actually did take a photo of the Santa Monica beach on Saturday, but it seems to have disappeared into the void of my iPhone.
Instead, I figured I would take a pause from the photos.
I moved to California from Florida exactly one year ago with nothing but my dog and whatever fit into my car. It was scary and exciting. I could make it on my own and I wasn’t going to run home crying.
Friday dropped a financial bombshell on my fiancé Josh and me. So it’s funny that this month, the one year anniversary of successfully blossoming and creating a home here, we are struggling again.
We made a plan. Then we hit the beach.
Sometimes you have to laugh at what life throws at you.
I’ll take the opportunity to tell you this — there are always hurdles. Whatever it is you’re working towards, don’t give up!

Continuing my newfound tradition, I picked up my weekly flowers from Trader Joe’s in addition to the usual grocery haul.
Hot weather may be coming in, but for some reason I’ve picked up my tea habits again in addition to caffeinated coffee. Yikes!
The weekend was incredibly exciting as I attended my first Renaissance Fair, which was here in Southern California about 40 minutes away from where I live. I was skeptical. We went with a group of friends and they insisted on dressing up. Josh and I wore “tourist outfits” and considered buying a piece or two at the fair.
When we arrived, it was like stepping back in time. Absolutely incredible. Everyone was dressed appropriately and a few even nailed the old English accents.
I spotted a blue and silver corset and totally splurged… Oops. I thought of it as an investment piece. After instance from everyone else, I bought the skirt and shirt as well and ended up receiving a ton of compliments for the outfit the rest of the day, which eliminated my spending guilt. (Excuse the bad quality front-camera iPhone photo. It doesn’t do the outfit justice!) I am now obsessed with the clothing of this time period. Sure it’s uncomfortable, but it’s gorgeous and flattering on every body type. I wish everyone still dressed up this way.
I will wear this outfit every Halloween and fair to come, because I’m anticipating on getting as much use out of it as possible. I hope to add to it with accessories over time, and I still need the appropriate boots.
On the negative, I also walked away with a bad sunburn on my shoulders and chest in addition to spending every cent I reserved for the occasion.
Sunday was my down time. I managed to pick up curtains for the rest of the rooms and hung them up. The new place is slowly coming together!
