A Week in Photos: Week 15

  • This past week was somewhat of a blur.
  • We had some good news come in as a result of a previous setback.
  • This allowed me to do some shopping. Let’s just say I went all out with this tray set up from Target I was contemplating over last week. Pictures to come for another post.
  • Lunch at the park.
  • Bought some curtains for the office, realized finding a pair for our living room will be a challenge. (I think I’m going to have to hang the curtain bar higher… Anyone have a latter?)
  • Dorothy Perkins was having an irresistible sale and I snagged a handful of beautiful items for next to nothing.  It was my first time ordering from them, so I hope my size works out. Check out their website, they just put new items on sale. (It figures they would do this the day after I place my order.)
  • Saw Dark Knight Rises on Friday with coworkers and again on Saturday with my fiancé. (Incredibly, stupendously happy with its ending.)
  • Spent Saturday “re-experiencing” the Friday night PF Chang’s I had post-movie with coworkers. Not. Fun.
  • My weekend mostly consisted of playing this beauty. It’s been a while since I’ve played anything at all, so I’m excited to be preordering Guild Wars 2 this week. I’ll be playing a human engineer. I’ll even have a monocle! Very steampunk-esque, I love it. Even my desktop has converted.
  • In my spare time I started and finished Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro, my latest book club read. It was an average book, fun but not exceptional. You can read my full review here. And if you’re also a bookworm, friend me on Goodreads!

Week 13

  • I’m addicted to International Delight’s Cinnabon coffee creamer. I don’t even miss Starbucks.
  • I decided on Friday to start cutting out some caffeine again after getting the jitters, so I’m back on decaf. My body just can’t handle much caffeine. My love affair with coffee is killing me.
  • Independence Day was wonderful! I hope everyone else in the US enjoyed. We had a great show not far away that I was able to enjoy from my balcony.
  • Walgreens was having some big sales this week. In addition to a large box of Milkbones for $2 (lucky pups!) I saw the Yes to Carrots tinted balms were only about $1 each down from almost $6. There were only about five left, so I grabbed what looked to be an orange color. It’s actually a perfect neutral, so I scored big time!
  • Essie wasn’t on sale, but I saw this muted lilac color (Master Plan) and couldn’t pass it up. I’m such a sucker. It didn’t help that I’ve been growing tired of the colors in my collection.
  • Finally went to a matinee showing of Brave. Loved it! I’m a huge Pixar fan.
  • Inspired by the polish, I created an iPhone wallpaper and put it up as a freebie. Download it out here! I hope to be adding more freebies as the weeks go by, as a thank you for everyone who reads the blog. You’re amazing!

san diego

I was in San Diego last week!

I went to the San Diego Zoo, which was my first zoo trip since I can remember. It was unforgettable! I also visited the local aquarium and Coronado while I was there.

I am so grateful I was able to experience beautiful San Diego with one of my best friends.

A few notes on my trip:

  • Always bring your own pillow.
  • A GPS is more tolerable with a British accent.
  • Public transportation is always crazy.
  • When in doubt of catching a bus, walk an entire island.
  • The beach makes everything better, and so do cupcakes.
  • If you’re tired enough, riding the tram suddenly isn’t so scary.
  • Smile at people, and they will give you discounts.
  • Guild Wars 2 is almost playable on free hotel WIFI.
  • It’s not easy living as a street pigeon.
  • It’s always colder on the coast.
  • You will always wake up early on vacation.
  • Packing light is a life saver.
  • I’m dirt poor and will never live luxuriously. Oh well.

banana

I think the pattern bruises on bananas can be really cool looking sometimes. I have a banana every day at work.

new boat shoes

Needed shoes that were still professional (in other words, not sneakers) but would work well biking to work. These have been perfect, as long as they stay clean!

bobaloca

Love boba! Taro is my favorite, but it has to be made by the right place or else it has the worst aftertaste. Bobaloca gets it right every time!

starbucks

Last week wasn’t all too fabulous, so I swung by Starbucks on the way home for Josh and me only to be insulted by the barista. My name has nothing to do with butter, sir.

marjorie

Clients weren’t spelling my name right last week either.

marjorie

Even when I clearly had it spelled for them in my email address and signature. Really, guys?
