Upgrading the Bathroom Shower Head

Posted in Do It Yourself, My Home on Apr 03, 2012.

Our new place has two bathrooms. Our guest bathroom came with an upgraded shower head, but for some reason the master bath came with a dingy one. It also barely reached the top of my head, which was a problem.

Old Shower Head

I picked up a shower head from Bed Bath & Beyond and planned on a quick 5 minute replacement. Easy, right? Wrong. I had so many issues… I tried until my hands were swollen and my wrench was worn, but the old one would not budge. Then I tried this beautiful tool…

For some reason, this worked effortlessly. I don’t know how a wrench failed to budge the thing and this unrelated tool had no problem. These are the crazy things you discover the more you attempt DIY…

I installed the new shower head and soaked myself a few times as I tried to figure out how to use tape around the bolts. Around the fifth try the new shower head worked perfectly.

So I solved the eyesore and the new installation gives us much more height. Success! By the way, the organizer I use is this one here by SimpleHuman. It never rusts and is completely adjustable!

Wow, kudos to you for changing your showerhead! I’d love to attempt some DIY and update certain fixtures in my home, but I have a feeling I’d be terrible at it :/ Love the after look, the new showerhead looks really nice!

Thank you! It’s much easier than I made it seem. hahaha. And totally worth the pay-off!

Impressive. I would have messed both showerheads up in the process if I would have attempted something like this because that’s my life, really.

Thank you! Trust me, I usually have the same luck… Luck must have been on my side for this one.
